La Orquesta de Antes is an Argentine popular music orchestra founded over 15 years ago in the city of San Miguel del Monte. Its repertoire ranges from folklore and traditional music from different regions of the country to Argentine rock, a genre that has been the soundtrack of the last 50 years in Argentina and throughout Latin America. The ensemble approaches these styles through the sound and language of a jazz orchestra, providing audiences with an experience that feels both familiar and innovative.
La Orquesta de Antes has performed on a wide variety of stages both in Argentina and abroad. They have played in 12 editions of the Festival de Jazz de la Playa and two editions of the Festival de Jazz del Subte, and they are also the hosts of the Festival de Jazz de Monte. On the international stage, in 2017 the orchestra embarked on an ambitious project: their first European tour, performing in Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France, England, and Wales. En el plano internacional, en el año 2017 emprendieron el ambicioso proyecto de realizar su primera gira europea recorriendo Suiza, Alemania, Bélgica, Francia, Inglaterra y Gales. Continuaron su crecimiento en el 2018 llevando a cabo una gira por Brasil, donde se presentaron en las ciudades de Antonina, Curitiba, Ponta Grossa, y Foz de Iguazú, y por el norte argentino, en Caraguatay y Puerto Iguazú. The ensemble’s prestige reached a peak in 2019 during their second European tour, when they represented San Miguel del Monte at the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. This tour, which also included performances in Austria, Germany, France, and Belgium, reaffirmed the orchestra’s ability to interpret Argentine popular music in this modern format, acting as a true cultural ambassador for the country. In 2025, La Orquesta de Antes received recognition from the Chamber of Deputies of the Province of Buenos Aires for its “extensive career and invaluable cultural contribution to the community,” a result of years of consistency, dedication, and hard work.
