We invite you to a series of cozy movie nights in the garden, to discover a selection of German contemporary films that skillfully build and offer a perspective on some of the red-hot themes that shape us and our society nowadays.

The second edition of “𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭?” film screenings comes in focus with a theme: “𝐅𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤)”. The selected films offer different perspectives on the matter of defining and standing one’s grounds. Personally and civically.

The film selection includes visually stunning and award-winning movies that address topics such as fighting back defective systems, fighting for democracy & justice, environmental welfare; but also fighting for individuality and self-expression.

𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬: Three young female activists in Hong Kong, Chile, and Uganda are at the center of this documentary by Franz Böhm. They are young and inspired by the desire to secure the future of their homeland and make it more liveable. To do so, they must cope with the staggering personal impacts of their activism.

𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬: On her wild quest for love, 9-year-old Benni’s untamed energy drives everyone around her to despair. Benni is a “system crasher”. That’s what children are called that consistently break all rules and refuse to follow all structures – and slowly but surely fall through the cracks of the German child protection services.
