Air Lines [LIVE] @ Control Club

Air Lines is a noise-rock duo with its roots in Bucharest. The project, whose blueprint has been in existence since 2018, received a boost during the pandemic. Augustin Nicolae (bass, vocals, synth), who has been part of bands like The Amsterdams, Dekadens, Orizontal, or Partizan, began working on a series of song ideas with his former colleague (turned bandmate) Ștefan Lăzărică. The latter is “responsible” for the sound, as he has produced the Air Lines songs released so far.

The initial songs were crafted by the duo in isolation in 2020, and the first authentic music video, also a DIY production in the first year of the pandemic, was released on the band’s YouTube channel in the summer of 2020. Subsequently, compositions began to “flow,” and in 2023, the band released its first album, “Temples,” in an extremely limited vinyl edition (only a few dozen units) produced in Lithuania.

In addition to the efforts of the two core members, Augustin and Ștefan, the band enlisted the contribution of drummers Chris Olsman (formerly of The Amsterdams) and Robert Dalquist (formerly of Dor Mărunt, We Singing Colors), bassist Robert Casmirovici (formerly of Coven Clash, Mars and Daemons), and even featured vocal participation from Mihai Ionuț Andrei (Breathelast, The Boy Who Cried Wolf) during the sound exploration phase.

In 2023, Air Lines embarked on a promotional tour for the album “Temples,” with several dates scheduled as the opening act for the band Omul cu Șobolani.

Currently, Air Lines is working on their second album, with a set of songs expected to be performed at the concert on February 20th at Club Control.
