A musical performance about animality, humanity, and memory.
What happens when a human being and an animal grow up together, like siblings? When they breathe the same air, speak through their eyes, communicate through the heart and learn together the secrets of the forest?
And what remains when that forest ceases to be paradise?
When another, “foreign” world invades the forest:
Violence.
Abduction.
Destruction.
Exploitation.
Oblivion.
What does it mean to be human? And how human do you remain when you forget the earth from which you were born?
Anam(m)a Theatre Group presents People of the Earth, a hybrid music-theatre work by Kostas Gakis, balancing between concert, storytelling and embodiment. Seen through the eyes of an animal, the performance becomes a heartbreaking chronicle of the loss of innocence, displacement and resistance of a barefoot tribe of the forest.
A story about the relationship between humans and animals, about nature as home and, above all, about a love that refuses to forget.
Kostas Gakis creates a minimal, musical and deeply physical universe, where the stage transforms without scenery.
Three chairs.
Musical instruments.
Masks.
Microphones.
And three bodies becoming humans, animals, forest and memory.
Music, songs, storytelling and acting coexist in a live theatrical ritual. The performers do not simply tell the story; they transform it before the audience’s eyes.
Every sound becomes a breath.
Every song becomes a memory.
Every body becomes a fragment of the forest.
And every loss leaves its mark.
For those who lost their land.
For those who watched their world change violently.
But also for those who refused to forget.
For the love that always remembers.
