“Nutshell” is a short, sharp, dark and sophisticated tale which contains, in a ‘nutshell’, the core of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” in which a foetus is a detective but also a potential victim. A surprising point of view, a host of puns, humour and irony are at their best in McEwan’s novel.
