Ece Özel returns to PW alongside local selector Maria Antoaneta for a femme-forward night on 8th of March.
When you come from a place where everything collides in both the worst and best of ways, confusion takes on a different meaning. İstanbul based DJ Ece Özel’s approach towards selection, draws from this exact notion.
Growing up in the city’s vibrant punk scene and being acquainted with electronic music afterwards, surely had powerful effects on her style. Mystifying, unpredictable transitions are her specialty, seamlessly changing lanes between genres, tempos and eras. A sound that blossoms into something unexpected as often as hers, simply carries you away.
From Istanbul she runs her own nights and podcast series titled ‘Özel Zevkler’ and is half of independent record label Müstesna Records, continuing to shine a light on both contemporary and past Turkish electronic music.
