Cabinet: Modular Project (IT), Nek & Walentin Pauer @ Control Club
Modular Project is the duo formed in 2014 by Alberto Iovine and Alessandro Fumagalli, whose identity is shaped by mesmerizing synths and galvanic drums.
They first stood out with their remix released on Rebirth Records of the Blond:ish classic ‘Wizard of Love’. This success was followed by the founding of their own imprint Nothing is Real and their current Robot Studio, in Italy. I
n 2018, the single ‘Leaving’, another release on Rebirth which included remixes of the legendary Acid Pauli and Kasper Bjørke, brought more attention to the duo; gigs in some of Europe’s best clubs became regular.
In 2019, Modular Project’s name gained global notoriety with the releases ‘1981’ on hfn music and the Kraut-techno track ‘Past Present Future’, played by high-profile DJs across the globe. The collaboration on ‘Vivid Poison’ with the artist Eleonora, masterfully mixed also by Perel and Autarkic, demonstrated the duo’s ability to blend past and future together, combining emotional vocals with dynamic rhythms.
In terms of music, 2020 and 2021 have been the most prolific years for the duo, with releases on Permanent Vacation, Nothing Is Real, Motordiscs, Duro, Relish and Freeride Millenium. A mention goes to the ‘Be Loved’ remix for Robi Insinna/Headman’s track, ‘Electronic Disco’ and ‘Supernova’ which reached the 1st position on Beatport Indie Dance chart.
In the last months, Modular Project brought their driving sound on tour in clubs such as Le Sucre (Lyon), The Block (Tel Aviv), Zukunft (Zürich), Control Club (Bucharest) and more.
