amen pres. LCY (uk) • Chlorys • Sour @ Control Club

Amen invites LCY, an innovative music enthusiast from Bristol with a passion for multi-genre bass, to shake and rattle up your Friday night. Joining them will be Bucharest-based selectors Chlorys and Sour. Anticipate a diverse range of genres, including bass, breaks, techno, and jungle.

LCY (UK)

LCY, a DJ, producer, and visual artist originally from Bristol and now based in London, has quickly become a leading figure in UK underground music and culture. As a multi-disciplinary artist and label owner of SZNS7N, LCY has released a wide range of innovative and captivating music over the years, spanning all corners of electronic, bass, and club music.

They have garnered consistent support from fans and publications such as i-D Magazine, RA, FACT, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Dazed, Crack, and Electronic Beats among others. LCY’s experimental productions and electrifying DJ sets have been making waves in clubs in the UK and abroad. Recently transitioning from their former alias L U C Y, the new identity of LCY represents a shift towards a darker, more percussive side of electronic music, as well as an exploration and expansion of their artistic visual identity. LCY will be revealing their face for the first time as an artist since they were 16.

Chlorys (RO)

Chlorys is a musical & visual entity based in Bucharest, part of Queer Night family, Shape Platform artist in 2017, and since 2016 until present, a founding member of Corp. platform, it’s main focus on representing and promoting queer identities (trans, nonbinary etc.). She has streched her tentacles also locally, and also internationally, having played shows in Berlin, Stockholm, London, Paris, Lyon, Nantes. She has been a Noods Radio resident for three years in charge of Alien Flora and a host on the local radio Black Rhino together with Corp, hosting a monthly show called Corpcast.

Starting 2022 she is a resident of LYL Radio from France, with the show Primordial Soup. Aside from being active on the local clubbing scene, she also tinkers with the visual and sound arts, having had works exhibited in various galleries such as Suprainfinit Gallery, MNAC Anexa, Ivan Gallery, Rubik Space, Atelier35.

Sour (RO)

Sour, a DJ and promoter, has been involved in underground club music for 15 years and counting. Starting as a drum & bass DJ, he has since developed a style that encompasses a wide range of club sonics between 110 and 180 bpm. Recently, his experimentation with moody, atmospheric breaks has led him to promote classic jungle-inspired sounds featuring masterful percussive drum works and hypnotic soundscapes. Sour often delves into slower music and enjoys taking the audience on a journey during their sets. The amen project was born out of a lifelong passion for club culture, diversity and inclusiveness, with the goal of curating more diverse soundscapes and nights without sticking to a particular genre, having sensed the local scene lacking a bit in terms of diversity.

The Amen Break, a six-second drum solo cut from the song “Amen, Brother” by The Winstons, is perhaps the most famous loop of all time. This one sequence of sound accidentally spawned a variety of genres, literally creating hip-hop, jungle, UK hardcore, and everything breaky in between. The word amen has been around for 3000 years and has the same meaning in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam: “so shall it be”. Whether one is a believer or not, the word allows individuals to emotionally surrender to forces higher than themselves, such as love, empathy, beauty, and music.

Amen brings together all club cultures under one roof to experience amazing, uplifting music. Music is the one common faith that unites us all. Let us be vibing in sync, let us share the flow, let us come together under the best religion there ever was on Earth, our one common faith, music. If you ever feel uncomfortable during your time here, please let us know.

Now and again,

rrrrrrrrroll the beats
